Laredo boys basketball players named to all-district teams

With the conclusion of the 2024-25 boys basketball season for District 30-6A teams, the all-district selections have been made. Laredo teams were well-represented. 

First-team selections were Alexander’s Emilio Garcia, Robert Eads and Mateo Serna; United’s Leo Gonzalez and Alejandro Melendez; United South’s Roger Tello and DJ Robles; and LBJ’s Zahith Valdez. Other first-team selections included Medina Valley’s Kai Guess and Noah Northcutt.

The second team featured Alexander’s Edgar Zuniga, United’s Nick Marroquin, United South’s Johnathan Tello and Juan Osorio, and LBJ’s Jon Lozano for the Laredo players. Other second-team selections included Del Rio’s Julian Dominguez and Alexis Flores, Eagle Pass’ Dan Ortiz and Javi Zamora, and Medina Valley’s Nason Sanchez and Jordan Robles.

Honorable mentions were Alexander’s Alessandro Elizondo, United’s Nathan Gonzalez, United South’s Hector Murillo and LBJ’s Elijah Medina. They were joined by Del Rio’s Angel Contreras, Eagle Pass’ Reyes Garcia and Medina Valley’s Demarrion Dixon.

Laredo players were also named to the all-academic team. Alexander’s Eads, United’s Leo Gonzalez, United South’s Tim Garza and LBJ’s Marco Garcia were named alongside Del Rio’s David Garcia, Eagle Pass’ Danny Ramos and Medina Valley’s Sanchez.

The District 30-6A Most Valuable Player was Eagle Pass senior Santiago Garza.

United South freshman Andre Garza was named Newcomer of the Year.

Both the Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year were Laredo players. 

United senior Joaquin Taboada was the Offensive Player of the Year, while Alexander senior Alexander Valdez was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Alexander coach Luis Valdez was named the District 30-6A Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs won the district title at 11-1 and ended the season at 28-6 overall.
